When Madonna singed with
Live Nation in October of 2007, a lot of eyebrows were raised at the potential
$120 million contract. Her last few albums had done well but not spectacular;
however, she was still a huge concert draw.
Well, Live Nation and Interscope Records (who is
releasing her new album in conjunction with Live Nation) must be grinning from
ear-to-ear because the media juggernaut that is kicking off the run up to
Madonna's MDNA album is producing huge results.
Last Sunday night, her performance during
half-time at the Super Bowl was the most watched in history with 112.6 million
viewers. That twelve minutes actually had a higher viewership than the actual
game. That performance pushed the pre-orders for the album to the top of the
charts in iTunes stores in fifty countries around the world.
Two days before, Clear Channel stations had a
coordinated the premier of the single Give Me All Your Luvin' on its stations
with hourly plays throughout the day and had the video playing on digital
billboards in many markets.
Interscope Records outlined some of the other
